Day 1
9:00am - Leave Melbourne and travel along the Great Ocean Road, through the quaint coastal resort towns of Lorne, Apollo Bay, as it hugs the coast, then inland through the lush Otways temperate rain forest, to Port Campbell National Park ( famous for it's natural rock formations ) The 12 Apostles, London Bridge, Loch Ard Gorge.
Overnight destination- 'Quamby Homestead' (circa 1888) a gracious and historic example of the Victorian era, full of charm and old world hospitality, where fine food and wine and open fires await you. Wake to the sounds of the Australian bush songs and take the opportunity to stroll through the magnificent English style gardens or similar in Port Fairy.
Day 2
Travel from 'Quamby' to the Grampians National Park, for bush walking, scenic lookouts, rock climbing, Aboriginal culture, wildflowers (over 850 species in spring) and even see a kangaroo or wallaby, then onto Ballarat.
Overnight accommodation- 'Ballarat Lodge' 4-5 star boutique hotel where a real commitment to quality, comfort, service and wonderful food, ensures an unforgettable stay.
Day 3
Visit Sovereign Hill ('this is Australia's 'Colonial Williamsburg') and relive Australia's exciting Gold Rush era, pan for Gold in the creek, ride the Cobb & Co coaches, yarn to the 'Diggers' in the streets, see a ($50k. Gold Ingot being poured) and be part of history.
Also we visit the Ballarat Wildlife Park, where you can pat koalas, meet wombats and feed the kangaroos, and other wildlife in a natural habitat- a real hands on experience with the Australian animals.
Ballarat city highlights, can also be included in this tour as & when required. and return to Melbourne Hotel or *airport.
